BAd Service payment made goods not released

We received a invoice to pay custom duties to have the shipment released. The check deposit was made on the 04/02/2013. I spoke to Trishan Pillay who advised me that a cheque takes seven days to clear. I called today 11/02/2013 and Trishan told me to contact Tracy Mitchell to confirm if the check was paid. She is the only one who can tell me if the check has been paid.
if i have proof of the deposit then DHL is accountable for the funds.
This is not the first time a had unpleasant experience with DHL. For a company of international standards the service is extremely poor. When I emailed all the consultants at DHL i receive a out of office message for Tracy, Anesh Assareal. This is unacceptable. This is important shipment. And i have to answer to director of our company for the delay. I would like to know what is happening to my shipment and when do they intend on releasing this shipment?
