Uber South Africa
Overcharged

I needed an Uber ride from my office to fetch my car from a service. I couldn’t connect via my Uber App as I had no WiFi service and a poor signal. I asked my daughter to hail an Uber for me. The Uber came but had me to be taken home. Obviously a stuff up on my daughters side. I asked if he could reroute and he said he could but I would need to pay cash. The initial trip charged to my daughter’s account was R43. He qouted me R120. As I did not have that amount of cash on me I asked him to stop at an FNB ATM. No problem off we went. On the way he stopped a few times to find an ATM. But couldn’t find one. I persuaded him to go into a strip mall near to my destination and luckily was able to draw funds. I gave him R100 partly to make up for stuffing him around. He was happy. My daughter phoned me after an hour to say her Credit card was debited for an additional R170. So let’s add this up. R43 plus a tip R20 (I wasn’t aware of) that my daughter gave on the first ride due to her stuff up. I paid R100 and another R170 was deducted again. Add this up R333 for a trip that was qouted at R120. We have been overcharged by R213.
I would like a refund as this is tantamount to fraud.
