Caltex is running a promotion, whereby a motorist gets a sticker whenever they spend R100 or more on a transaction. For every 3 stickers, you are supposed to receive a glass. On 30 January 2013, I filled up and received my 3rd sticker, thereby entitling me to a glass. I was informed that the Service Station was out of glasses, but I would get one when I came again. Today, 4 February 2013, I again filled up with petrol and received another sticker. When I requested the glass that is still outstanding, I was informed that they are still out of stock, and as the promotion ends on 8 February, they won't be getting glasses in again.
Why continue with a promotion, if you don't intend fulfilling your promise? Should I take this to the Consumer Protector?
