This might not make sense to everyone, but here goes. I bought a MAJOR SERVICE on Groupon for the low price of R225, now to my calculations they could not possibly make a profit on that ammount. I was promptly told that my exhaust system is stuffed, this I accepted no worries as it was making a noise for a while. The next thing was my CV joints, now I am no mechanic, but I told the mechanic guy that it has not been making any noise and it is fine, just do the major service. Any other place would've left it at that, but they were adament. This is where my concern. My CV joint may, or may not have required fixing, I don't know. However..I am under the impression that they lure you in with the cheap as chips Groupon voucher in an attempt to make money from some or the other BIG fix that has to be done.
My advise: Stand firm on any or every extra offered or MUST DO and have it checked afterwards by another mechanic or someone not in a suspicious situation.
As far as the CV joints and exhaust go, so far so good with a 1 year warranty. The car was kind of dirty on the inside afterward.
