After a VERY bad experience at Hyundai Centurion in 2012, I swore I will never do business with them again. I even sold my Hyundai.
However about 6 months ago, I suddenly started to receive promotional sms's, which I hate. I ignored it at first, but on 13 August 2013 I even received an sms from a PREVIOUS EMPLOYEE, contacting me to sell his new product. I was outraged as my contact details are private, and this means that Hyundai has not exercised proper care to keep my details private and confidential.
I phoned the manager Shaun (van Breda?) the next day. I explained to him that I have never given permission to be contacted for promotional purposes, I am no longer a customer, and are also listed on the "national opt out list" which, according to law, they have to check before they may contact me (except if they have my written permission). I also told him about the employee contacting me.
His only response was that he will take me off their contact list. Guess what, I have just received another sms!
Clearly, Hyundai Centurion does not care about their customers privacy or the law.
I am currently researching the penalties on non-compliance of the consumer protection act...
