I booked my car for a diagnostic after the engine light turned on and after my car made a funny sound and felt as if something "missed" in the engine only to be informed that the problem cannot be located and it is apparent that there is a huge problem. I was informed that the costs of repairs will be approximately R 25 000 - R 30 000 as my engine will need to be stripped and may take up to three weeks. Distraught over the "death sentence" of my car I informed them to not continue with the repairs and I will fetch the car as is. I still paid R 1 700, 00 for spark plugs, a faulty coil and labour. Arrangements was being made for the sale of my current car (which would obviously be at a huge loss) and for the purchase of a new car. My neighbour however, informed me that he would like to introduce me to someone before I sell my car. This man listened to the engine, tested the compression (which I was told by ecar is a huge problem), and told me that there is nothing wrong with my engine and the compression and the problem must be something else. He found it - WATER IN MY PETROL! My car is as good as new! This man is a Mercedes genius! Ecar will obviously never see me again.
