General Motors South Africa
GM service and Practises

I recently bought a 1998 Isuzu 280TD LX in a good condition. However: It does need some TLC. I started having it fixed, and order parts as needed, e.g.: touch up of paint, where it weathered (like the door sills) have to repair minor dents, which means also replacing some of the plastic strips on the sides, as well as the stickers on the LDV. Now getting a nice discount helps ALOT, but having to continuously return to find out where the parts is that I ordered - is a diff. story. You get different stories on at different times, and getting cont. PROPER service - is OUT. I specifically mentioned the year model, as it will be used as an excuse for "availability of parts". Ten days after some parts was ordered, I have to make the 1 salesman attentive to "As it is not available from the factory, can he then not get it from another branch? etc. Before I ordered mouldings, I had to pay upfront, then only to hear, it is no longer available, then it is again, but not painted, then again it is not. Fetching the parts is also time delaying due to departmental issues, etc. Why to get proper service do I have to ask the Parts manager? List of complaints to mention, however no space here.
