Having sold my fairly new car to a friend, I agreed to have the Roadworthy done as part of the sale.
Having just sent the car for a service, dealer assured me car was in a pristine condition.
I browsed the net for reputable roadworthy centers in the area. I came across AVTS, Bellville Branch, which claims on its website to be a member of RMI and SABS. I then decided to use this provider, assuming it was legit, being a member of RMI and all.
On arrival, I paid and proceeded to have my car roadworthied.
Before they started with the Test, I was approached by one of the examiners who said that he could help me out if the car failed. I should just pay him R150! Never before have I been confronted with such outright in our country!
I knew that the car had absolutely no issues that would infer a fail. After the test he listed a few things that, according to him needed attention, and again suggested that I should pay him to secure a pass.
I refused.
I am utterly disgusted with RMI that they can accredit such an organisation. I suggest you go to the center undercover, if need be, and investigate! You are putting peoples lives at risk by endosing a shady road worthy center!
