Engen Petroleum
Engen's Service Station Wrongfully Charged Me

I went to the Vinyard Service Station exactly a week ago for fuel (04-06-2013). I paid via debit card and was told after entering my pin that they charged me the wrong amount.

While I should have paid R200 they deducted R379 from my account. The attendants then said they would reverse the charge, which firstly took about 20 minutes (which I thought was rather long), and later turned out not to have taken effect. They then charged me the R200 and I left. Within the next few days I repeatedly checked my account but my money was still missing. I went to Standard Bank who told me there was absolutely no reflection of any reversal. I went back to the Vinyard Service Station with both receipts and a print of my account, my query was responded to with a set of numbers reflecting the Station's accounts and was told that I should "just wait it out" and that they didn't have my money.

While I'm not disputing their account, the fact remains that an error was made on their part, they are refusing to take responsibility, and my money is still missing. As far as I understand things that service station is liable and need to find and replace my funds?

Hoping for some resolution
Meghan Whyte
