Friday 19/04/13 we went to the News Cafe in Centurion. About to leave we asked the waiter for our bill (Muzi), when he brought the bill we wanted to pay using card (R963.00). Muzi disappeared for a while and we thought he was going to get the speed point, but to our suprise another person appeared with the speed point, and he told us he would be processing our payment. We aked his name and enquired about our waiter and why wasnt he processing payment. He introduced himself as Mike, and that he was one of the managers incharge on the night. He went on to say that waiters were not allowed to process bills over R400. He continued to say he would need the Name, Surname, ID and contact number of the account owner, we we asked what for and he said it was new procedure at New Cafes. We went on to ask where this was made visible to the customer and he said it was not. That seemed out-right dodgy, the fact that waiters cant process transactions over R400, that he appears alone without the waiter at the time of payment, that he needs details of the account holder to go with the payment. I need to know if this is so because in these days of identity the whole thing seemed very suspiciou
