My cousin and I headed to Cafe Extrablatt this evening in order to enjoy a meal out and some good company. I had never really sampled German food before and thought this would be good. We both ordered the Schweinshaxe. On arrival of the food, the "crispy" skin on the pork was anything but. You couldn't have played a game of squash with it. We sent the food back, only to have it returned a slightly darker colour. It still would have entertained children for days as a bouncing ball.
The waiter (who was very apologetic and understanding) went to spoke to the manager. The waiter later returned and told us as he was a shift supervisor (or something similar) that it was his problem to deal with customer complaints. My cousin and I both spotted the manager happily texting behind the bar, apparently we didn't rate an audience his lordship.
I won't being going back. There are hundreds of other restaurants in Cape Town and a good many in the Seapoint area. Why should I waste my time and money with bad food and disinterested owners/managers.
