NO loyalty from Ocean Basket

We applied for a franchise (paid an application and joining fee) for an Ocean Basket franchise in Heidelberg in 2007. Several meetings took place between Ocean Basket and ourselves in order to finalize the agreement.
The New Business Department revealed that our dossier was "missing" and we were requested to re-submit our application. Also, Ocean Basket's attorney scrutinized the rental agreement between ourselves and the shopping centre and approved the document.

In 2013, we were notified that the franchise can no longer be sold to us, because the franchisee in Nigel had a clause in his contract that states that he is entitled to the franchise in Heidelberg (the Ocean Basket in Nigel opened its doors long after we applied for a franchise). Ocean Basket offered a partnership between ourselves and the owner of Nigel, and we did not accept, as we feel that we were negotiating with their company long before he was on the scene. In September 2013 we were told that the franchise will be sold to the owner of the Ocean Basket in Nigel. We are extremely disappointed in Ocean Basket, for their treatment of this matter.
