Went to Eastwoods on Friday afternoon. We booked a table for four. We got there on time only to find that they gave our table away to some other patrons! After getting a table we ordered drinks, eventually ordering starters that took forever to make. And the best part is that not all of us received it at the same time (only a party of 4!). Soon enough we ordered the main course - that took even longer to reach our table. When the food did arrive it was cold. I decided to take the cold food because I was hungry - I could not afford to wait another nearly 1 hour for food to arrive. I asked for a tiny bowl of mushroom sauce - for R14. Other restaurants normally include this. So I should rather have tomato sauce with my steak? I asked for a glass of water - surprisingly they didn't charge for that, lol! Then we asked for the bill. Their policy is to add a service charge for bills over R1500. Ours was only -R1100 before tipping. Ours had the service charge added! We managed to fix it and got a refund. We may have looked drunk but we weren't. You have been warned this season - restaurants and pubs will take you for everything you have! SCRUTINISE YOUR RECEIPT.
