I made a mistake and took bad advise from friends and add 2 items onto my claim after a a total value of not more than R5k.
I expalined this to the assessor and even wrote a statement of my mistake. He assusered me it was the best thing to do by being honest. REALLY
I was interigated as if I was the crimal in my own house, having to prove every item on the list that was and provide numbers of my family and friends to justify me actually owning some of the the items. Complete invading of my personal life.
3 days later they cancelled my policy and RED FLAGGED me, so I can not get insurance from any other insurance company. I have 90 days to fight this but in the meantime I can't get insurance anywhere not even for my car..
I know of people who claimed for 10's of thousands of rand on stuff they never had.
Apparently they now have a quota that 15% of all claims need to be repudiated.
My claim was a measly R35k, I will NEVER recommend outsurance to anyone.
Do yourselves a favour and rather have a middle man to fight for you.
