SANTAM actually not paying claims

I recently had my handbag and laptop after a break in at home. The Following day I obviously had to urgently replace various items - handbag, wallet, drivers license etc.

Santam on processing the claim have now told me they no longer pay monies back into your account, but give you a credit card with the claim money in it on which to shop. You can only buy, not access funds. I am now not able to refund my purchases, and have to go shopping buying more items to access the monies?

This is ridiculous! If I pay my insurance and it is a legal claim how come those monies are not then available to me to spend as I need to replace items and allocate accordingly to how I wish? also refund monies spent? Surely that money should be in my account earning MY interest for me to spend as convenient?

They are now asking for slips to allocate cash which obviously I dont have???

Surely if the claim is approved, the monies should be allocated to me in cash, not in some conditional purchase credit card?

this is a major FAIL Santam. This alone will make me reconsider all my policies with you!! in essence you are not paying my claim, but benefitting your retail partners. FAIL!
