Receiving NO feedback Whatsove

My husband and I were involved in a motor vehicle accident, we stopped suddenly to avoid an accident in front of us, when suddenly, we were hit from behind.
The car that hit us is insured by Regent, we have no insurance, the brokers of the other driver is with FNB, he sent through all the paperwork to a regent employee for a claim.
As our car is old, we were unable to get quotes, they have been "processing" our claim for more than a month now and an assessor was sent to our house to assess the damage of the car but I have still not heard as to how much the damage is or what will be happening to our car.
The car is still mobile, but we have to make use of a different car (which is ALOT heavier on fuel - costing us more money) in the meantime as we dont want to ride with the car as it is because when it rains, the boot rains in due to the damage.
Why should we suffer because the other driver was not following the correct following distance?
