Last year (2012) Standard Bank contacted me numerous times (SMS and phone calls), informing me that I have been pre-selected for a credit card.
I opted out twice via SMS, and after the second phone call, logged a complaint on their website.
Yesterday (2013/01/14) I was contacted again, informing me that I have been pre-approved for a credit card.
I don't even bank with Standard Bank! How was my personal details accessed by a bank I don't even bank with or have never inquired about?! Ever!
Shouldn't the bank ask permission to do a credit check on an individual before "pre-approving" someone?
