My spouse's car was recently involved in an accident when a driver drove into the back of the stationary vehicle. The vehicle was then driven from the accident scene to our residence some 3km away. The next morning, whilst driving to work, my wife pulled over a service station because the car started to overheat.
Upon investigation, we found that due to the impact, the radiator moved back, which resulted in damage to the expansion tank and some pipes. The Hollard insurance assessor wasn't very helpful and claims that the damage to the pipes were not a result of the accident. Clearly, he has little or no experience to understand how severe a rear accident could be. More importantly, what does the service history have to do with the accident?
We then repaired the vehicle at our own cost before it could be taken to the panelbeater. Now, nearly a month later, we are still waiting for the car. The assessor has asked the panelbeater to replace the bumper with a non OEM product or second hand product. This is ridiculous and never part of our insurance deal. To say the least, Hollard is a, they have no ethics and will look for every excuse not to repair the car. DON'T use Hollard
