Malfuntioning chip cards

I have been back and forth with absa about the cards they issue. Their chip card only works for a couple of hours and it never works in shops, resturants etc, only work at the atm. I have chnaged cards about 6-7 times and nobody told me I actually pay for the new cards they give me, which never work after all.
Somebody needs to address this soon as its a huge inconvenience.
