(NON) Payment of matured policy

I received notification that my endowment policy was about to mature on 01/03/2013. I applied for the funds to be repaid. After numerous e-mails, I eventually received the documentation. Then came hours of proving who/where/what I am! I forwarded the relative documentation and eagerly awaited the funds - some mistake! AFTER maturation date, my wife received an e-mail (how they got her address is a mystery) saying that there is a problem with a form - I could correct it and send it back by fax - I have done so, but, still NO money and upon sending an e-mail to customer (dis) service, I get a reply 4 days later saying the matter has been escalated!!
This policy has been in operation for 31 years, my bank account details (where I require the money paid to) have been the same for 18 years but I still have to prove who I am and my bank account.
BTW - I worked for this company and made sure that the policy was up to date, age admitted etc but this has seemingly been "lost" along with everything else!
I demand to know - where my money is, why it is taking so long when I reacted timeously, and, why my wife's e-mail address was used for MY PRIVATE correspondence!
