We went to ABSA Mall@Reds with the intention of opening a new account (of which I already have 2 existing accounts, being an ABSA client). We walked into the branch, passed the customer care line, and stood in front of a desk where we wanted to ask someone to direct us to the correct waiting area for opening new accounts. The lady, busy with another client, irritatedly and very rude, told us to go stand in the customer care line. We said that we need not stand in that line and only want to open an account. Very upset about her attitude, I went back to get her name. I asked her name and she, with the best "see-if-I-care" attitude and a smug grin on her face, lifted the name plaque on her shirt. Her name is Marelise Botha. I tried to explain to her what the problem was and asked where we should go to open a new account and she directed us into another direction. I proved to her that she was wrong and she kept giving me a thumbs up saying, in Afrikaans "Ok, baie mooi hoor. Ok, mooi so". My fiance asked to speak to a manger, and she replied "Ek is die bestuurder! " Very proud of herself, indeed! This is completely unacceptable and does she not deserve her position as manager at all!!
