Non-payment of Surplus by Southern Life (Momentum)

I worked for Southern Life since April 1986 and left the company in January 1997. I was a member of the Southern Life Pension Fund but when it was declared that companies should compensate ex employees of their Surplus, Southern Life took no action. I understand that Momentum took the company over but does that mean that those employees should pay for such business decisions in the most cruel way of being denied their rights to get what belonged to them? What is Momentum making out of all this, I need some answers please. And what is the government's action when things like these happen? Thank you very much.
