I took out a policy to cover my outstanding credit card in case of retrenchment and or dread disease, cancer being one of them. In November 2012 I was diagnosed with cancer in December due to the extent and complication of the surgery which detected the cancer I lost my small business so lost my income. Retrenchment. InJanuary after 6 weeks in hispital Hollard and Standard bank were notified of my situation. Paper work was only received in May 2013, completed and returned. These were mislaid. In the mean time calls final demands and interest kept coming in. In october 2013 I once again contaced Hollard and was sent relevant forms. As I am now a government patient it took 3 months for my form to be completed by my oncologist, still waiting for the surgeon to return the forms and he is private. Now Hollard are saying the cannot cover my credit card, and in the 14 months so far standard bank has added an additional R10000.00 in interest. Why my problem. My policy was up todate and you were notified timeously. I am unemployed living with my single mother daughter with one income. Why don't you want to pay up. Now I have to have more forms completed WHY?
