I bought a house from standard bank in the auction. i paid the purchase price and transfer costs while waiting for the transfer/registration i found the house being put for sale again. when i telephone standard bank they advised me to talk to their lawyers. i contacted their attorneys who confirmed that i dont owe anything but the reason for standard bank to cancel the contract is because municipality did not provide them with a clearance certificate. i wonder why i must be prejudiced for something to do with municipality. the auction was on 31 January 2009. Resale took place on 31 August 2013.
