We had an offer accepted by Standard Bank on a distress sale in November/December 2012. We required a signed Power of Attorney from the bank in order to lodge for transfer of the property from Standard Bank into our names. The lawyers recieved a POA, however it was incorrect. It was said the person responsible has resigned from Std bank and that they had to find someone new to sign the POA. After lengthy waiting periods, this was done, only to find that it was again invalid as it did not include a special resolution.
Eventually after amending this, Std bank agreed to deliver the document to our conveyancer at a conference they were both attending. This document, however was for a property in CAPE TOWN!!! Our house is in BRYANSTON!!
We have now had to apply for an extension on the clearance certificates from Jhb city council because the certificate we have expires on the 31st July. We can not lodge for transfer until this is approved so we now sit and wait AGAIN.
Our current rental is up for renewal but we should be in our own new house by now. This is an absolute disgrace. I will be very surprised if we are in this house before year end!!!
