Honouring Fee

I went to QS shop on the 16 Jan 2014 and used my cheque card to pay for my purchase. The transaction went throug as usual, but the problem was, there was no message alerting me of the transaction. i kept on checking my statements but nothing appeared up until today 22 Jan 2014, i checked in and found that i am owing Standard bank R120.00 honouring fees. My purchase was R156.42.
The thing is i didn't sign for overdraft option so i don't understand how they allowed that money without notifying me. The worst part is that my account is linked to my credit card and if they wanted to pay for me, why didn't they withdraw from my credit card as i have got more than enough credit in it.
