Standard Bank
CANCELLATION OF ASSURANCE PREMIUM

On the 18th December 2013, I had called homeloans dept to enquire what the process is to cancel the assurance premium on my bond. I was advised that a letter would need to be signed by both my husband and myself requesting the above. I was also given the homeloan customer service fax no (0861 111 132) to send the letter to and that it would take 3-5 business days for this query to be resolved. On the 20th December 2013 I received an sms from your homeloans dept with a ref no 364972718 -this is my bond account no, advising that this query has been sent to credit life.

I called homeloans call centre today (18 Jan) to confirm that the query has been dealt and was advised that I need to call credit life which I did. I was advised that the policy is still active and that there was no cancellation request received from the homeloans side.

I had to refax all the documents again and was advised that a 30 days notice period was needed!!!

I refuse to pay the policy at the end of the month as I have sufficient proof that I had sent all my documents in time, I will not wait 30 days for it to be cancelled. It needs to be done with immediate effect or I will be contacting the Oumbadsman.
