Delay with cancellation of my policy

I phoned and cancelled my policy yesterday 20th December 2013 and I was told my policy was cancelled and I would receive an sms the same day with confirmation, but I received nothing, so I phoned today 21st December 2013 to confirm that my policy has been cancelled and I was told by the operator, that the cancellation was pending, WHAT THE HECK FOR??? I just want it to be cancelled.
