Wesbank
Relentless harassment by debt collector attorneys

Some five years ago I had a failing business and struggled to pay the two Wesbank accounts in my small hotel's name until a Webank representative rocked up to demand I hand over our VW Kombi - which we needed for our business desperately - without any Sheriff's authority so I, in my ignorance, complied. Subsequently Wesbank sold off the vehicle that was in tip top condition and in good order through an auction for a pittance and then sent demands for me to pay the "shortfall" of around R7500 which I was unable to do. In the meantime I kept up the payments on our second vehicle and finally paid this off completely when I sold my share in the business, advising Wesbank that I wished to clear my "full account". They demanded and were paid R62000 and all went quiet until I started getting very threatening calls from debt collectors and despite never receiving a summons, a Sheriff arrived with and attachment order for all my meagre possessions. As three years had gone by my lawyer advised that whatever debt remained had prescribed and nothing further ensued, until yesterday when yet another debt collector started phoning with similar menacing threats. Is any of this legal? I'm suicidal
