Inflexible Home Loan Department cant custom debits

I am a private banking client, and on 24th November requested my banker to assist me with making my current home loan payment on a bi- weekly basis instead of on a monthly basis.
A simple request that I thought a supposedly leading banking institution should be able to easily accommodate. Especially since a bi-weekly payment arrangement would assist me with better managing my home loan account, and I thought the bank would be eager to assist as they would be receiving more regular payments.

I was shocked and bemused to receive a blunt response to my request 2 days later on 26th November 2013: "The home loan debit order can only run once a month therefore we are unable to assist with this request."

No reason as to why, no attempt at even trying to accommodate my request.
I emailed Standard Bank on 26th November asking why this was not possible, expressing my frustration, and to date have received no response - i.e. They are now just ignoring me.
I am supposed to be a valued banking client, you'd assume it means something to be a private banking client. But not to this antiquated behemoth, they dont seem to really care about client requests. Nor do they try and help.
