On Saturday 23 November I woke up to my car having been broken into. Being in Hermanus for work purposes and having my wallet, I was stranded. I called my insurance company which is My Way thinking that at least I could have my window sorted out immediately since my vehicle was covered for that. I was then told that there was an excess of R650.00 applicable which needed to be paid upfront. I told the claims handler that I had no money since my wallet was and I had no relatives living in that area- I was stranded. He then asked me if can't go to a Shoprite and do a money transfer or ask the owner of the B&B where I was staying to lend me the money. Having said no to both requests he then said he will speak to his superior. He got back to me but with nothing positive. His superior said there was nothing he could do and the excess must be paid. Then, getting back to Cape Town, I tried sorting out this window which had smash & grab tinting on it so that my life could get back to normal. Now, I find that Glass Fit who was appointed as the service provider does not stock the tint which is on my window and I should settle for the closest match. To me, that is just not on!!!
