I took the Medical insurance in 2008. In 2010 I had an accident and had to hospitalized They paid some of the claims, but 2 were outstanding. In 01/2011 I queried it with Nicolene, and faxed the accounts to her. Some months later I still did not receive proof of payment. I spoke to Joanne and faxed the accounts to her Then 07/2013 I received a Demand letter from the attorneys for the acc. I spoke to Clarrisse. She said that it was paid and she couldn't get proof of payment from Abelard. After 3 mths and many phone calls to many people at the call centre., I finally got an e-mail from Elize saying that the claim was not submitted, and is now stale and they cannot pay it. There is much more to say about the various conversations with the people at Essential Med. But it would take too much space. Suffice to say that I must now pay R1270 instead of R538 which ws the original acc. I will not recommend anyone to do business with Essential Med.
