I would like to query a monthly debit order from my current account no: 021619247.
On 25 March I noticed a debit for the amount of R 741.05 (Credit Life Protection 02 161 565 9 ASB premium). On checking I picked up that this was a monthly debit for about 4 years (the amount varies). When I phoned Standard, after being transferred several times, I was informed that this was credit protection for a student loan. I was then given the phone number of the insurers (0861201000 8 - CRV4189). They were unable to give me any details of a contract and said they would contact me within a week (this was on 11 April). I am still waiting.
I would like to know what this debit order is for (I have never signed a contract for that amount):
Why Standard Bank could not give me any details concerning this:
Why Standard Bank authorised this debit order.
They have subsequently admitted I signed no contract and would refund me. I have now been waiting months with no progress. I have contacted the Ombudsman.
