We purchased a property a year ago. Firstly fight and plead to get an answer and good enough interest %.
All other banks also approved and I only went with Standard Bank because I have been banking there for years and my business account is also with them. Not to mention the fact that their insurance is pathetic. The advise and attitude they give their clients are up to as well. We purchased the property at an extremely good price, R 250 000 below what it was marketed for and had big ideas of just renovating a bit to make it amazing. First call to Standard Bank 5 months after purchase (and they can go and check their system) the gentleman said I should please phone back after the debit order payment for month six, as you have to at least have paid the bond for six months before they look at a second bond. What a bunch of, I have clients, whom I see purchase a house and get a second bond straight away. So I left it for another 9 months which makes it over a year. Just to hear that you must please phone back when this months debit goes off. I am now just fed up and am gonna do my best to move everything from them.
