I've been a Standard bank customer for years. Then I recently applied for vehicle finance. I did the application and everything but I was shocked when the consultant called me and told me my application was denied due to affordability since I earn R6000 per month. But the thing is, my gross salary is R25 000 and net is R17 0000.But apparently the Standard bank people cannot count nor read a payslip. I had to take her through my payslip step by step and she said she will get back to me. She then called and told me she's going to need a signed contract from my employer! Well I sent this as well. Then she called again and said she needs a list of all my monthly expenses! I was appalled but I sent her. She called me with interest rate and I requested the interest rate to be taken down she never got back to me whether it was declined/accepted. The other bank on the other hand approved my application within minutes over the phone and I guess they can count because I was never cross questioned. After they gave me the interest rate I told them it was too high and the next day it was down by 2.6%.But the bigger point here is, THEY GOT BACK TO ME! I'm closing all my Standard bank accounts.
