I've been struggling for months to close an account I had with Standard Bank. After phoning and visiting the bank in person several times; collecting reference numbers; talking to consultants who always assure me that it will be taken care of and the charges reversed, I receive an sms today informing me that my 'case' has been handed over to debt collectors.
The account *still* hasn't been closed and has, without my knowledge (I've no access to that account AT ALL), been racking monthly banking costs.
I find it sadly amusing that my initial reason for closing the account and moving to another bank was because of consistent poor service.
