I have been insured with Indwe (previously Prestasi) for more than 20 years. Under my current policy the CONTENTS of my double garage (tools etc), which is a separate structure 4 meters from the house, is fully covered. I received, like all Indwe clients, an amended policy which will become effective on 1 October 2013. It seems as if my garage will in future be classified as an outbuilding and that the CONTENT will be insured for a maximum of R5, 000, which is the replacement cost of a few minor garden tools. In a covering latter it is stated that this represents better protection for clients!!! I phoned the call centre on 6 September and they informed me that they cannot view my new policy, but they think my garage CONTENT will still be fully insured, but they cannot communicate this in writing. I then phoned the PE branch who said the content of the garage is insured to a max of R5, 000. So who is correct? Also, in 2002 there was a once off offer: You pay R30/month (fixed) extra for an additional R100k content insurance. This has now disappeared on the new policy and the R100k has been incorporated into the general content cover which is more that R30/R100k.
