Outstanding Debit Order Authorisation

I made a purchase online, but after 2 days I cancelled the order. I called to get my money back I was told the money was never taken as it is still withheld by my bank (FNB). I would like to know how long that money will be reflected back into my account, and why it takes so long to actually do that.
