Absa
Notice of Sale of Property

In August 2012, whilst in Jeffreys Bay, we put our property (in Warner Beach, KZN) on the market. I still have a bond on this property and was advised by the estate agent to inform ABSA Bank that I was putting it on the market as they would penalise me if I did not inform them. We went to ABSA in J-Bay and filled out the standard form for this purpose. It was stamped & signed by the bank and forwarded to the ABSA department. I was NOT informed by anyone at the bank that if the property was not sold within 90 days I must complete the same form and send it thru again and complete this process every 90 days until the property was sold. In July of this year whilst in Tshpise I was told by the estate agent that there was a very interested buyer for my property. I travelled thru to Musina ABSA and asked if the form which I showed them was still valid. They confirmed that it was valid and I must not lose it and I must send a copy to the transferring attorneys if the sale was succesful. The sale was succesful. Yesterday I went to sign documents and discovered that I was penalised R4477.23 by ABSA as the document I had had expired. We are pensioners and cannot afford this.
