Consumer Guardian Services
Application for Sequestration

During March / April 2013 I requested Consumer Guardian Services (CGS) to do a sequestration of my estate (voluntary surrender). They quoted me R 45 000.00 to complete the whole process. I paid this money, with the understanding that the process will be finalised.

After the R 45 000.00 was paid, they wanted an additional R 13 000.00 If I did not pay this amount, they would not go ahead with the matter. The R 45 000.00 was not refundable. If I did not pay the additional R 13 000.00, I would lose the R 45 000.00. I then paid the additional R 13 000.00 The total amount paid now: R 58 000.00

CGS appointed a corresponding attorney in Johannesburg to do the actual work. The corresponding attorney was paid R 8 500.00 by CGS. The balance of my account now stood at: R 49 500.00

The application for sequestration was opposed by ABSA bank in the South Gauteng High Court.. Consumer Guardian Services now wants an additional R 45 000.00 to go ahead with the matter.

CGS cannot give me a statement of expenses. What was the R 49 500.00 spent on? Why must I now pay again? The original payment of R 58 000.00 was supposed to cover ALL costs. I feel that this is an unfair business practice.
