Bad Credit Record after payment arrangement

Hello Peter

I did a free credit check on myself a few months ago as I am looking to purchase a new vehicle. In doing so I discovered a late payment on my Standard Bank credit card for February 2012. On the occasion I was contacted by Standard Bank and asked to make the payment or they would close my account and collect my card. Upon hearing this, I agreed that I would make the payment the following day as I would be paid soon, the person that I spoke to at the time said to me that it would not be a problem and that I should simply notify them when the payment was made so that they could remove the flagged late payment. I am now sitting with the problem of not being able to get finance for a thing because of it.By doing the right thing and rectifying a simple mistake I've been given the toffee for my efforts. I would like Standard Bank to get this off my record now!!! What is the point of me being a good customer and rectifying an honest mistake if it's going to stuff up my life for years to come?!!! To top things off, now that my credit card is basically debt free, they are offering me additional credit... how is this allowed to happen!?? It's disgusting!
