Unable to settle

I have an ABSA credit card which I paid via my ABSA account until I closed it in January. I've been out of the country for work since February. In this time, I've tried to pay my credit card account in the following ways:

- Via EFT from my new bank account at another institution. This could not be done as apparently my account number does not exist.
- Sent a family member to a branch to make a payment. Same result - account number does not exist.
- Tried to pay via ABSA EFT from family member's account - account number does not exist.

In this time I've been unable to get a single statement from ABSA. Not via snail mail, email, or messenger bird. I've also been unable to get any clarification on how to pay, seeing as the account has apparently disappeared.

Now my account has been handed over to Newton's Attorneys. Amazingly, they were able to send an email. I'm unable to verify that these people are actually authorised, as they can't provide a statement of account. I have little to no faith that payments made to them will result in settlements on my credit card account.

I'd love an explanation from ABSA on why, despite all efforts, they can't even be bothered to assist in this.
