Ask the right questions

I am purchasing a vehicle and needed insurance. A friend recommended Outsurance. My initial experience was great until I got to the bank to sign the papers for the finance. The bank consultant asked me if Outsurance offered me the "short fall" cover in my premium. They didn't (as far as I remember). This would mean that I would only be paid for the retail value of the vehicle, should it be written off, and not the full amount financed by the bank.
I phone Winnie at Outsurance back and she was once again very helpful and accommodating. She passed me on to her supervisor who then escalated me to her superior, Peter Khan. Peter apologised, and included my "short-fall" premium in my initial monthly premium.
Now, it must be noted that, from the offset I was given a better premium by Winnie after some negotiating (I am in sales and understand that there is often margin available to "give away" to make the deal work) and then I was only expecting the "short fall" amount to be included in my monthly premium but Peter went the extra mile and gave me another R10 off my initial premium to satisfy my request and compensate for their apparent oversight.
