I have been with standard bank for probably around 8 years. I have upgraded my account to platinum and expected a decent interest rate when I bought my first property. However I haven't seen any benefits. I have an interest rate of 10.9 % on my home loan and was told to review it 6 months after the property was on my name. I enquired an interest rate review on my home loan but was ignored for months. Now they tell me, after I had to follow up again, that Standard bank won't give me a better rate. I have a perfect credit record, degree, good name and should not be a risk at all. Standard bank could not give me a explanation in a professional manner and did not give me a chance to even ask if I can change the duration from 30 to 20 years. I would have appreciated it so much if someone could take interest in my matters and help me find the best options. I am very disappointed and will be looking at taking all my accounts to a bank which can give me the support/service and decent interest rate I need.
