I just want to warn each and every one of you to really do your best to avoid booking travel insurance through TIC. On one occasion, my colleague's father died so she had to cancel her travels - and they didn't pay anything for lost air tickets, hotel reservations, etc. I was helping her out and the customer services were very non responsive and kept putting down the phone when we tried to get answers. I swore never to book with them, lest I end up in the same situation as her. Two years later, we bought air tickets via our FNB credit card and we were automatically insured with them - unknown to me of course - with TIC. This time, I became pregnant and had a very complicated pregnancy so we couldn't do our trekking trip as planned. Despite a doctors note and all the details they requested, they didn't pay a cent. Their excuse was that they only pay for journey cancellation if you die. Which I thought was very convenient - dead clients wouldn't claim anyway. Terrible Insurance Company. Never again.
