I contacted A&G for a quote on car insurance for my 18 year old son. I was very concerned about the excesses to be paid in the event of an accident claim. I repeatedly enquired about the excesses applicable and was repeatedly told that the Basic Excess was R3, 600. I asked about additional excesses and was again told "the basic excess is R3, 600". I subsequently took out the insurance. Two days ago I received my policy in the post, only to find a section titled "Additional Excesses", in this section additional applicable excesses amounted to an additoional R4.700, in the event of an accident. I contacted Shile again and enquired why he had not told me about these additional excesses when I had specifically enquired. I was informed that "legally we only have to disclose the basic excess when quoting". So yes, he did not to me and say there was no additional excesses, but nor did he disclose the full information I was asking for. I believe he deliberately tried to mislead me by not disclosing the full information, and maybe assuming that I would not read the full policy in detail on receipt. This behaviour by Auto and General is completly underhand and disgusting
