Hello Peter, on Saturday 22 June 2013, my car (Charcoal, Ford Fiesta, 2006 Model, Registration No. TYZ834GP) had a mechanical brake down on Heidelberg Road, near M17 City Deep in Johannesburg. I called Hollard Insurance around 18h30pm, but they only came to my rescue around 21h00pm. I waited patiently, even though I had informed Hollard that I was in a hijacking spot and needed urgent help. Before they sent the tow-truck to me, I was shocked to learn that I had to pay R250 to the driver who towed me back home in downtown Johannesburg. My policy states that upon the mechanical breakdown of my car, I will be towed for free, as long as I did not exceed 40km. From where my car broke down, it took us about 12km to get to my apartment, where my car was towed. This left me feeling helpless, robbed and left for hours in a hijacking spot. I am upset since my premiums are up to date, but I felt like I was being punished. I would like a written apology from Hollard and also to be re-imbursed my R250 with immediate effect. I will be grateful, if you can name and shame Hollard for the unfair treatment I received from them. Regards... Zolani. [email protected] (0793200610 / 0113550530)
