The vehicle in question was involved in an accident. The left front passenger door needs replacing, the left back door can be repaired. Outsurance wanted to write the vehicle off, their assessor putting the damages at R19435.62. I have refused to write the vehicle off for two damaged doors, so I have requested a cash-in-lieu payment to be made. I feel that if Outsurance assessed the repairs at R19435.62 then I should be paid that out less the excess. Outsurance is saying that they will only pay out the difference between what THEY can get from the company that writes off their vehicles (SMD) which is R26504.77 less the excess. The market value of the car is R43000.00 and the repairs is not even 70% of that value, so I am inclined tp think that Outsurance is trying to me into writing my car off.
