Instant Life
Instantlife's arbitrary decision making

Wow, this company just does not cease to uprise me when it comes to the extreme approach thy will take to deny liability of a valid claim for benefits in terms of my critical illness policy. They do not dispute that I suffered a critical illness as defined in my policy. They refuse to pay this benefit because they deny receipt of a letter which I sent them wherein I disclosed my medical conditions to them. Their application form did not ask specifically any questions relating to my condition, but I voluntarily disclosed the said conditions to them before the policy was effective. The policy did not prohibit such disclosures being sent to them by mail, but now they question whether the document existed and whether it was sent. They say I must proof thy received it. That is really paternalistic and insulting, not to mention opportunistic. Consumers should be on their guard in their dealings with this company. Their name suggests that they are "instant". However, that only applies to their issuing of the policy. My experience suggests that they are not fair in their claims considerations. I will now complain to the Long Term Ombudsman and update regularly as to the progress hereof.
