I recently made a payment to a FNB account holder from my Investec account for R1, 500 (which I lost), because apparently FNB accounts in SA and in Namibia may be duplicated for different account holders. My payment ended up in the SA account holder's account.
The Investect internet banking site does not make any reference to this. In fact, the impression is made that by only supplying the necessary account name, number and amount (note - a branch number is not required on the site), the payment can be made to the correct account. This is totally misleading, as it does not require any special indiciation that the payment goes to either the SA or Namibian account.
